Aristea Papalexandrou was born in Hamburg in 1970. She has published six books of poetry: Dio onira prin (Two Dreams Ago, 2000), Allote allou (Once, Elsewhere, 2004), Odika ptina (Songbirds, 2008), Ypogeios (Underground, 2012), Mas propserna (It’s Passing Us By, 2015), Nychterini Vivliothiki (Night Library, 2020). In 2020 her poetry collection It’s Passing Us By has been published in Vermont/USA by Fomite Press, translated by Philip Ramp. She has studied music and Medieval and Modern Greek Literature. She works as an editor. For her last book, It’s Passing Us By, she has been honored by the Academy of Athens, in December 2017. In December 2021, she has defended her thesis entitled The Critical Reception of Greek Women's Poetry during the final quarter of the 20th Century (Athens School of Fine Arts).
