SOUEREF, KOSTAS

He studied History and Archaeology in the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Bari. He received his master’s degrees in ancient literature from the Scuola Normale Superiore and in prehistoric archaeology from the University of Pisa. Doctor of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research focuses on the region of northern Greece and on History of Art.

He participated in Greek and international conferences and in mentoring programs for teachers as an instructor. He suggested and realized in Thessaloniki the theoretical part of the European project “Kaleidoscope 1995” under the title Myths, legends and fairy tales, an approach through comics.

He taught as a scientist expert at the University of Ioannina, the University of West Macedonia and as a consultant professor at the Hellenic Open University. He has been invited in Universities of Italy and France to give lectures and to participate in seminars.

He worked as an archaeologist in the Ministry of Culture since 1985, at the beginning in the 16th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities and the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, later as a director in the 29th Ephorate of Antiquities (2006-2010), in the 12th Ephorate of Antiquities (2011-2014) and finally in the Ephorate of Antiquities of Ioannina (2014-2019). Emeritus Curator of Antiquities since 2020.
