KONOMARA, LILA

Born in Athens, Lila Konomara studied modern literature in Paris (Paris VII - Jussieu) and taught French Literature at the American College of Athens and at the Institut Français d' Athènes.

Her first book titled Macao (two novellas - 2002) was awarded by unanimous vote the Debut Novelist First Prize of the literary magazine Diavazo and it was short listed for the National Prize of Literature. Her novels The Representation (2009) and The Dinner (2012), as well as the Concerns of a Geometer (2014), a collection of short stories, have also been short listed for the literary magazine Diavazo Award.

She has also written the novel Four Seasons – A detail (2004) and the children's novel At 11.11' sharp! (2005). Her last book, a novel titled The bundle was published in 2022.

Articles, reviews and short stories of Lila Konomara are often hosted in newspapers and literary magazines in Greece and abroad. She has been a member of the editorial team of the online literary magazine oanagnostis.gr. She has been regularly translating English and French literature into Greek.

In 2017 she was granted a fellowship by the Bavarian Ministry of Culture for a one-year residency at Villa Concordia in Bamberg, Germany.

She is a member of the Hellenic Authors’ Society http://www.authors.gr/  and of the Greek Collecting Society for Literary Works. She has been a member of the jury for the National Literary Awards and of the jury for the National Awards for Literary Translation.
